I WILL vote no against this casino.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15085260.post-53094104200520191112007-10-16T04:21:00.000-07:002007-10-16T04:21:00.000-07:00Mr. French, Chief Denson has never said anything a...Mr. French, Chief Denson has never said anything about paying state & local gaming taxes (Legally the Choctaws can not be taxed). He said they would pay 4% of their revenue as an impact fee, to help pay for the infrastructure.

The MS Supreme Court ruled impact fees on developers in Ocean Springs illegal; therefore legally Chief Denson's Choctaw Casino can not pay impact fees

Yes, quit a few Jackson County residents work at and enjoy the casinos in Harrison & Hancock County (which honestly isn't that far to travel). Those who work in the Harrison & Hancock County casinos will be in danger of losing their jobs to an untaxed, unregulated Choctaw casino. Denson has publicly stated he thinks Choctaws should hold the high paying jobs in a Choctaw casino.

As for the drunk driving issue, do you think the residents of Jackson County will be the only ones visiting the Choctaw Casino? You will be bringing people into our county and encouraging them to drink.

In the right area in Moss Point/Pascagoula on the waterfront a taxed and regulated casino might be an asset to Jackson County. But putting a casino on a major highway right off the interstate that many people use to get to work is asking for a traffic nightmare.

Vote NO to an untaxed, unregulated Choctaw casino and then work to get properly taxed and regulated casinos in Jackson County.Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs https://www.blogger.com/profile/13233710830920626326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15085260.post-86658337356823061862007-10-15T14:07:00.000-07:002007-10-15T14:07:00.000-07:00I believe Cheif DEnson has already stated thet the...I believe Cheif DEnson has already stated thet they WOULD pay state & local gaming taxes, so at least 1 of us is not paying attention. I also noticed you said nothing about all the people from Jackson county going to the biloxi casinos, and they're are a LOT of them.I,m really not clear on how a county casino would increase drunk driving. Are all those jackson co. people at the biloxi casinos not drinking there, but they would at a Jackson county casino???
